Indian Railways में 11,127 Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) की vacancy आई है — और इसमें वो एक बात है जो ज़्यादातर candidates नहीं जानते: CBT-1 में चाहे जितने marks आएं, वो final merit में count ही नहीं होते। Final selection सिर्फ CBT-2 Part A (70%) और CBAT (30%) से तय होता है। यह जानकारी early है, advantage आपका है। Apply 15 May 2026 से शुरू होगा, last date 14 June 2026 है — और तैयारी अभी से शुरू करनी है।

1. RRB ALP 2026 क्या है — Assistant Loco Pilot कौन होता है?

Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) — यह Indian Railways की एक technical field post है। ALP वो person है जो train के Loco Pilot (LP) यानी Driver के साथ cab में बैठता है और उनकी हर operation में assist करता है।

ALP के daily काम:

• Locomotive को monitor करना — speed, temperature, pressure
• Signals देखना और Loco Pilot को alert करना
• Minor technical faults identify करके report करना
• Railway tracks पर defects देखना
• Safety ensure करना — passengers और crew दोनों की

ALP क्यों important post है?

Loco Pilot अकेले नहीं चला सकता train — ALP उनका right hand होता है। यह एक permanent, gazetted Class-III government job है जिसमें promotion से आगे Loco Pilot, Senior Loco Pilot तक का path है।

3. Eligibility — 10th + ITI, Diploma, और Degree — कौन Apply करे?

Educational Qualification (कोई एक):

Option 1 — Matriculation (10th) + ITI: 10th pass + NCVT/SCVT से ITI Certificate in relevant trade।

Eligible ITI Trades: Electrician, Electronics Mechanic, Wireman, Fitter, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Tractor Mechanic, Mechanic Diesel, Turner, Machinist, Refrigeration & AC Mechanic, Heat Engine, Mechanic (Radio & Television) — and other relevant technical trades।

Option 2 — Diploma in Engineering: 10th + 3-year Diploma in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Automobile, etc.)।

Option 3 — Degree in Engineering: B.E. / B.Tech in relevant engineering discipline।

Nationality:

सिर्फ Indian Citizens।

Medical Standard:

A-1 Medical Standard mandatory — eyesight, color vision, physical fitness सब strict है। (Section 11 में detail।)

4. Age Limit और Category-wise Relaxation

Age reference date: 01 July 2026

5. Application Fee — Category-wise

Fee Payment Modes: Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Card, Mobile Wallet।

Refund Policy: Exam attend करने वाले candidates को fee refund होती है। इसलिए apply करने के बाद exam ज़रूर दो।

6. Salary — ₹19,900 Basic से ₹34,442 In-Hand तक

यह section सबसे important है — और यहाँ वो numbers हैं जो research से verified हैं:

Entry Level ALP Salary Structure (7th Pay Commission, Level 2):

Running Allowance — ALP का Special Benefit:

Running Allowance exclusive to loco staff होता है — यह per kilometer train चलाने पर मिलता है। यह ALP को बाकी government employees से अलग और financially attractive बनाता है।

Promotion के बाद Salary Growth:

After promotion, a Loco Pilot's salary increases significantly — Loco Pilot (Goods): ₹40,000–₹56,000, Loco Pilot (Passenger): ₹50,000–₹66,000, Loco Pilot (Mail/Express): ₹60,000–₹78,000 per month.

7. Selection Process — 4 Stages जो ठीक से समझने ज़रूरी हैं

RRB ALP 2026 का selection 4 stages में होता है:

CBT-1 (Screening) → CBT-2 Part A + Part B → CBAT (Psycho Test) → Document Verification + Medical

Stage Hierarchy — कौन-सा Stage क्या करता है:

Final Merit Formula:

Final Score = CBT-2 Part A Marks × 70% + CBAT Marks × 30%

यही वो information है जो article के शुरुआत में बताई — CBT-1 में चाहे जितने marks आएं, merit में zero contribution। लेकिन qualify करना ज़रूरी है — नहीं किया तो CBT-2 में नहीं जाओगे।

8. CBT-1 Exam Pattern और Syllabus — Qualifying Stage

The RRB ALP Syllabus for the CBT 1 exam includes 4 subjects namely Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness.

Duration: 60 मिनट (1 घंटा) Negative Marking: 1/3 mark प्रति गलत answer

Qualifying Marks CBT-1:

Shortlisting: CBT-1 से approximately CBT-2 vacancies का 20 गुना candidates shortlist होते हैं।

9. CBT-2 Exam Pattern — Part A (Merit) और Part B (Qualifying)

Part A — General Engineering (100 Questions, 90 Minutes):

CBT-2 Part A is the most important stage — it carries 70% weightage in the final merit. 100 questions in 90 minutes.

Negative Marking: 1/3 per wrong answer। Qualifying Marks: UR/EWS 40%, OBC 30%, SC 30%, ST 25%।

"Basic Science & Engineering" section — सबसे important: इसमें Engineering Drawing, Units & Measurements, Mass, Weight, Density, Work/Power/Energy, Heat & Temperature, Basic Electricity, Levers, Simple Machines, Occupational Safety — सब आता है। 40 marks यहीं से — सबसे ज़्यादा।

Part B — Trade Specific (75 Questions, 60 Minutes):

CBT-2 Part B is qualifying (minimum 35%). यह trade-specific paper है।

Minimum Qualifying Marks: 35% (सभी categories के लिए same)।

Trade selection: Apply करते समय जो ITI trade या engineering stream choose की हो — उसी से 75 questions।

Warning: Generally, you cannot change the trade chosen for Part B once the application window closes. इसलिए apply करते समय trade ध्यान से choose करो।

CBAT के लिए Shortlisting:

Candidates equal to 8 times the number of ALP vacancies for each category will be shortlisted for this stage depending on their performance in CBT II.

10. CBAT — Psycho Test की Reality — सबसे Ignored Stage

यह वो section है जिसे हर coaching ignore करती है — लेकिन यह merit का 30% decide करता है।

CBAT = Computer-Based Aptitude Test — इसे Psycho Test भी कहते हैं।

CBAT क्या test करता है? यह knowledge test नहीं है — यह test करता है कि आपके पास train operate करने के लिए ज़रूरी mental aptitude है या नहीं।

CBAT में क्या होता है? Multiple Test Batteries — each one अलग mental skill test करती है:

• Reaction Time Test
• Depth Perception
• Concentration Test
• Memory Test
• Following Directions Test

Key Rules:

Minimum Qualifying Marks for this stage are 42 marks in each of the test batteries, irrespective of the category.

There will be no negative marking in the RRB ALP CBAT.

The final merit list for ALP is prepared with 70% weightage from CBT 2 Part A marks and 30% weightage from CBAT marks.

CBAT की preparation कैसे करें?

11. Medical Standards — A-1 Classification क्या है?

RRB ALP के लिए A-1 Medical Standard mandatory है — यह Railways की highest medical fitness category है।

Key Medical Requirements:

Glasses/Spectacles: 
ALP post के लिए spectacles/contact lenses पहनकर eye test fail हो सकता है — criteria बहुत strict है। अगर eyesight weak है तो honestly check करो पहले।

12. "CBT-1 में भी 1/3 Negative Marking है" — वो Warning जो सब भूल जाते हैं

यह critical section है:

There is a Negative Marking of ⅓ mark for each incorrect answer. — यह CBT-1 और CBT-2 Part A और B — तीनों में लागू है।

लेकिन CBAT में कोई negative marking नहीं है।

Strategy:

• CBT-1: Confident answers पर attempt करो। Guess blindly मत करो — 1/3 कटेगा।
• CBT-2 Part A: Same — careful attempt।
• CBT-2 Part B: Same — trade questions में randomly guess मत करो।
• CBAT: सभी attempt करो — penalty नहीं।

13. Step-by-Step: Apply Kaise Kare (15 May से)

Application Portal: Apply online link 15 May 2026 को activate होगा। Official Website: indianrailways.gov.in + अपने zone की RRB website।

Step 1 — Detailed Notification पढ़ो

14 May 2026 को detailed notification आएगी। Apply करने से पहले zone-wise vacancies, trade-specific eligibility, और exam cities confirm करो।

Step 2 — Registration करो

RRB portal पर New Registration → Name, DOB, Mobile, Email → OTP verify।

Step 3 — Application Form भरो

• Personal details
• Educational details (10th, ITI/Diploma/Degree)
• Trade selection (CBT-2 Part B के लिए) — carefully choose करो, change नहीं होगा
• Preferred RRB/Zone

Step 4 — Documents Upload करो

• Passport photo (white background)
• Signature scan
• 10th Certificate

15. वो 5 गलतियाँ जो ALP Selection Miss करवा देती हैं

गलती 1 — CBT-1 में ज़्यादा focus, CBT-2 Ignore: CBT-1 merit में count नहीं होता — लेकिन candidates उसमें इतना time लगाते हैं कि CBT-2 Part A (जो असली merit decide करता है) weak रह जाता है। Priority सही रखो।

गलती 2 — Trade Wrong Select करना: CBT-2 Part B के लिए trade apply करते समय गलत select की — exam में उस trade के questions आए जो आती नहीं। Trade change नहीं होती। अपनी ITI/Diploma trade से matching trade ही select करो।

गलती 3 — CBAT की preparation बिल्कुल नहीं: 30% merit CBAT से आती है — फिर भी ज़्यादातर candidates इसकी preparation नहीं करते। Minimum 42 marks हर battery में चाहिए — नहीं आए तो merit में नहीं जाओगे।

गलती 4 — Eye test में spectacles लेकर जाना: A-1 medical standard में eyesight without glasses होनी चाहिए। अगर spectacles पहनते हो — पहले ophthalmologist से honestly check करवाओ।

गलती 5 — CBT-1 में सभी questions attempt करना (negative marking है): UPTET की तरह CBAT में negative नहीं है, लेकिन CBT-1 में 1/3 negative है। जो नहीं आता — skip करो। Random guessing costly है।
